Beautiful colors.
Seen on Raymond Dr. in Templeton, CA. It’s a shame that very few people will ever see this oak so far off the beaten path.
My walnut tree that just keeps on giving in autumn. 1/3 to 1/2 picked this afternoon and the rest of this tree and one more walnut tree to go. After that comes shucking those ugly skins off and curing and cracking the nuts. The challenge is to get them all harvested before the squirrels and birds beat me do it. They’ve already begun getting their share — especially the birds. Some nuts have holes the size of a quarter in them with no nut left, but still hanging on the tree like broken ornament.s
Even the ground is interesting under an oak tree. It will give birth to next season’s baby oak forest.
